It was a weird weekend for weather, nice when we set off, but then rained heavily for about 24 hours. It was a real test for the tent, but by the end there was some water starting to seep in through the bottom of the sleeping compartment.
It did stay dry for the most of the weekend though, even hot.
Though I would say that one of the highlights of the trip was a walk through a forest in the rain and seeing lots of Deer really very close to us.
The rest of the images are here

Disaster struck last saturday morning…
I pressed the power button on my mac and nothing happened!!! There was no chime, no fan noise, no hard disk noise, nothing more than the little power light coming on for a second then going out.
I have tried everything i can to fix it, but it looks like a new power supply is the answer. Unfortunately, mac parts aren’t as easy to come by as pc parts. There are a few places to get them, but there is little choice and you can’t really go for budget options.
The part i need costs £200, and it would cost me the same again to get it fitted. with VAT i could be looking at £500. With that kind of money on a computer that is over 3 years old I start to wonder if it is worth it. If it wasn’t for the fact that I will be unemployed in about 6 weeks time, Would happily get a new one, though then i would have to look at all the iMac v Mac Pro pros and cons. I would like an iMac because they are cool (and now powerful enough to run Aperture for my photographs) whereas the Mac Pro is powerful and expandable (but more expensive)
However, I will probably just get the part and fit it myself. All you need to do is remove the Front inlet fan assembly, the processor, all the AGP & PCI cards, the rear exhaust assembly, the front panel board cable and the memory before getting to the power supply

My job appeal was unsuccessful.
I didn’t expect any different, but at least I went down fighting

This is quite exciting
Here are the covers of 3 books which are either in the shops now, or about to come into the shops. They are a revamp of the AA’s 50 walks in… series and these 3 feature cover photography from the very talented Michael Moody.
Although, i was never a big fan of the photo of Wokingham Town Hall, but I always love to see my Photographs on covers

We’ve all had the desire to have the fastest computer in the world, but this guy did something about it! He put 24 Samsung Solid State Hard Drives in a PC and in this promotional video demonstrates just how fast it is in today’s video. It doesn’t matter how fast your computer is, you know what you ultimately want is instant response

Here are a couple of spreads from a book called Bridges of the World.
The spread is of the Mathematical Bridge of Queens’ College,
Cambridge University.I took these photographs in May 2008

It’s been a shitty couple of months.
on January 27th the bosses at work announced that dispite the AA achieving it’s targets and AA Publishing making more money than ever before, they decided that they would cut the publishing program by 50% and also the staff that make the books by 50%
After a long period of uncertainty, I was made redundant.
This was despite the fact that I was the hardest working and most experienced person for the job. Though I can’t prove it, I know that the real reason I lost my job was because I am not friends with the boss like certain others.
I was the only case in the company where there was a shock with the outcome (so I have been told by colleagues) My soon to be former boss, is a real asshole though, and this is not just bitterness talking here- he really is a useless piece of shit. I could get numerous witness statements…
Anyway, I did launch a formal appeal against the decision. Mainly because it was just so absurd. I don’t expect it to change the outcome, nor am I really sure I would want it to. I do believe I will be far better off leaving this company.
My last day here will be the 29th May 2009 – start the clock…

As a die hard apple mac fan it pains me to have found a theme for my blog that I love that is based on vista.
So all I could do was to ‘mac’ it up a little.
Now it has a power mac G5 at the top and an apple as the menu button. (though the original button is growing on me, so I may change back..)
I still may change the background image…..

A few weeks back i was sent up to Hertfordshire to take some photos for a 50 Walks in Hertfordshire book. Luckily for me it happened to be that really nice week at the start of May when it was gorgeous wether the entire time.
I was there for 3 days in total. Much better than being stuck in the office, but carrying all my camera gear around became less fun by the third walk of the day.
If the photo list was specific then I just drove straight to the thing i needed to shoot. But as for the general ones, I had to do the whole walks.
I have put some of the photo’s up on my site and even edited them down for once. I have such a problem with deleting pictures and just having the best. I always have far too many.
I also never want to have to type “a field of oilseed rape“ ever again (aargh!!!)
So next week I will be shooting Hampshire, followed by Berkshire & Buckinghamshire (including one walk in Pangbourne, it practically starts from my front door)
